Jonnie Jensen

Jonnie Jensen is a member of our international Consultant team, based in Great Britain. He is a seasoned digital marketer with a background that covers all aspects of communications, direct marketing, product marketing and advertising. In his working career he has held positions up to Director level on both agency and brand side. His enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit has also seen him run his own agency in first mobile and more recently social media. Jonnie’s passion for marketing started whilst at University. It was the subject that “came naturally” to him and upon completion of his Business and Innovation degree he secured a role in a London agency. Interfocus was one of the first ‘through the line’ agencies and as such Jonnie learnt to understand both the creative process of brand advertising and the consumer focus of promotions and direct marketing. In 1999 during a secondment to TBWA in Amsterdam, he worked with a digital agency, Razorfish. This was to spark an interest in the internet and digital marketing that has not diminished today. Upon his return Jonnie secured the role of marketing manager for Lycos UK. In this role he was able to let his entrepreneurial spirit lose on all manner of marketing approaches as businesses grappled with what worked and what didn’t to get customers and keep them coming back online. Most of Jonnie’s time was focused around communications, customer acquisition and CRM. A series of successes at Lycos included the first promotional email marketing campaign to members and an ISP award for the online instant win mechanic Fetch. By 2002 the burgeoning field of mobile had caught Jonnie’s attention. If the internet was big, surely mobile – with one in every pocket – was going to be bigger. A move to Buongiorno ensued and Jonnie took up a Head of Marketing role to form a new mobile content and marketing team. His core skills of communication strategy and CRM were pushed to limit at this time through the limitations of 160 characters, legal regulations and an audience not used to being marketed to on the their phones. Never the less, Jonnie created systems for success that were modelled across the UK and Europe for all the leading mobile phone operators and media brands. Towards the end of 2004 the opportunity presented itself for Jonnie to start his own agency. Focusing on mobile content and marketing initiatives the clients ranged across mobile operators, the music and entertainment industry and brands from FMCG and service led industries. The experience was invaluable and much was learnt about the challenges of launching a business and striving for success. Through many twists and turns the company evolved until Jonnie found himself back online excited by the opportunities presented by social media and two way digital engagement. Working directly with organisations to understand and develop social media strategy Jonnie was introduced to Creation Healthcare. Since 2009 he has worked as part of the team to bring insight, direction and success to a variety of healthcare and pharmaceutical clients.
